Nagaon is referred to as the rice bowl of Assam. It covers the geographical area of 4435.3 Sq. Km. of which 292700 Ha of land is under cultivation. As per 1991 census the total population is 1893171 comprising of 981379 male and 911792 female. A huge portion of the world famous Kaziranga National Park falls in this district.
