Golaghat district covers the total area of 3502 sq. km. and is located 100 meter above the sea level. It lies between 93° 16' East to 94° 10' East Longitude and between 25° 50' north to 26° 47' North Latitude. The district is bounded by Brahmaputra River on the North, Jorhat, Nagaland on the East, Karbi Anglong and Nagaland state on the South and Naogaon, Karbi Anglong on the West Golaghat district is an excellent tourist destination with its world-renowned Kaziranga National Park, tea gardens, dense forests, and old temples. The total population of the district ahs been recorded as 9,46,279 comprising of 4,90,286 males and 4,55,993 females. The economy of Golaghat district is chiefly dependent on agriculture.
