Arunachal Pradesh has been divided into 15 districts and has Itanagar as its capital. Its economy is mostly agricultural. The forest-products are the next most significant sector of the economy. Its service sector boasts of Real Estate, Consultancies, Travel and Tourism, and Construction. It has many hotels to cater to the needs of tourists.
Its unspoiled environment is also a source of attraction for tourists. It has airports located at Itanagar, Daparijo, Ziro, Along, Tezu and Pashigat. It has two highways: NH 52 connecting Jonai with Dirak and another, which connects Tezpur in Assam with Tawang.
The eastern most state of India, Arunachal Pradesh is a land of varied topography, weather and culture. It covers an area of 83,573 sq kms. There are sixteen sub-divisions, that is, districts of the state, which are made for administrative convenience. The various Arunachal Pradesh Districts are as follows:
# Lohit District: Named after The Lohit river, the district occupies an area of 11,402 sq km. Except for a bridge at Parashuram Kund, the district is highly inaccessible.
# Changlang District: Located south of Lohit district, it is a house for Singpo, Tutsa and Tangsa tribes.
# West Siang District: Well-known for Mechuka Gompa, this Arunachal Pradesh District covers 8325 sq km.
# East Siang District: It is administrative district of Arunachal Pradesh with head quarters at Pasighat.
# Anjaw District: Newly created in 2004, this district has seven administrative units with the head quarters at Hawai.
# Lower Dibang Valley: For administrative convenience, this district is divided into two halves, having head quarters in Roing and Anini.
# Tawang District: Situated on the Indo-China border, this district is famous for breeding of sheep and yaks.
# West Kameng: It covers 8.86% of the total area of the Arunachal Pradesh. The tribes inhabit here are Mompa, Aka, Dirang and Lish.
# East Kameng: This district is famous for tourists spots like Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary.
# Papumpare: It is an administrative district of Arunachal Pradesh with head quarters at Yupia.
# Lower Subansiri: It is another administrative district with head quarters at Ziro.
# Upper Siang: Covers an area of 6188 sq km, this administrative district has its head quarters at Yingkiong.
# Upper Dibang Valley: Named after Dibang river, it is comprised of the Adis and the Idus tribes.
# Tirap District: Situated in the south eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh, it is famous for its folk culture.
# Upper Subansiri: Occupying 7032 sq km, this administrative district has its head quarter at Daporijo.
# Kurung Kumey: This newly formed district has its head quarters at Laying-Yangte.
