Uttar Dinajpur is a district of West Bengal. It covers an area of 3142 sq.km. In 2001 it had a population of nearly 25 lakh. The rural areas of Uttar Dinajpur are more densely populated than the urban regiongs. The rivers Kulik, Nagar and Mahananda flows through it. It became a district in 1992.
Uttar Dinajpur is a very fertile plain. Paddy, jute and sugarcane are the main crops cultivated here.
Raiganj, situated in Uttar Dinajpur houses the Raiganj Bird Sanctuary which is one of the largest of its kind in Asia and an interesting place to visit.
