Barddhaman



Bardhaman is a district of West Bengal. It had a population of 285,871 in 2001. The main occupation of these people is agriculture. Crops like rice, sugarcane and potatoes are cultivated here. The main river of this district is Damodar.

Burdhaman was under the Muslim rule for a long time and the traces are visible in the culture of this district. Some of the places to visit here are the old temples bearing the characteristics of both Hindu and Muslim architecture, the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Sati and the temple of Sarvamangala which are pilgrimage centers
