Bankura

Bankura is a district located in West Bengal. It is a rural agriculture based district. Most of the inhabitants of this district are tribal. It is situated in the Rarh region of West Bengal. Its topography varies with altitude. The district s estimated population as per 2001 census is 128,811.

Bankura is a worth visiting place because of its numerous terracotta temples found in the town of Bishnupur. The terracotta art depicted on the temple walls are remarkable in its beauty. The town is full of other historical buildings dating back to the17th century.
