Dakshin-dinajpur

Dakshin Dinajpur is located in West Bengal. It covers an area of 2162 sq.km. At present it has a population of 15,03,178. Atreye, Punarbhaba and Brahmani are the three main rivers of this district.

Dakshin Dinajpur is a rural, agricultural district. There is no large scale industry.

Dakshin Dinajpur is a historically important place where a number of ancient relics have been excavated. This place existed during the Maurya emperor Chandragupta's reign and Jainism once flourished here. It was also the home of the Pala Kings.
