Maldah



Malda district is situated in West Bengal. It covers an area of 3455.66 sq.km. In 2001 it had a population of 3,290,1160.

Agriculture and pisciculture are the main industries of Malda. Rice and jute are the two main crops cultivated here. There are also a number of mango orchards and mulberry trees in this district. Mango and silk are two main commodities of trade.

Some of the places of interest in Malda are Gaur, Pandua, Bara Sona Mosque, Dakhil Darwaza and Kadam Rasul mosque. Most of these places contains relics of Muslim kingdoms, which flourished in 14th and 15th century in Bengal.
