Medak is a district situated in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh, India. Sangareddi is the district headquarters of Medak It is 100 km to the north of Hyderabad. According to the 2001 census the total area of Medak is 9699 sq.km.The population density in the district is 274 persons per sq.km while the literacy rate is 53.24%.

The district of Medak includes some big towns.They are Medak, Siddipet, Narsapur, Ramayampet, Gajwel, Narayankhed, Zaheerabad and Gummadidala. Medak district is divided into 45 mandals. Some of the mandals are Manoor, Siddipet, Kohir, Kangti, Chinna Kodur, Munpalle, Kalher, Nanganur, Pulkal, Narayankhed, Kondapak, Sadasivpet, Regode, Jagdevpur, Kondapur, Shankarampet, Gajwel, Sangareddy, Alladurg, Doultabad, Pata.

About 78% people are engagedagriculture and allied activities. The major crops grown here are Rice, Jowar, Cotton, Turmeric, Maize, Arhar, Chillies, Sugar Cane and Sesame. The Rivers which traverse the District are Manjeera, Valdhi, Gudleruvagu and Kadaleru.

Medak district is adorned by many temples depicting fine architectural splendors. These temples are scattered all around the district. The Veerabhadra Swamy Temple, Sapta Prakarauta Bhavani Mata Temple, Kanakadurga Temple, Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Koti Ligeshwara Swamy Temple are just to name a few. The Medak church, the single largest diocese in Asia and second largest in the world after the Vatican, is a priceless heritage and an attractive Tourist Spot. Lush green forests like Narsapur Forest and Manjira Forest make Medak an irresistible destination for all those nature lovers out there.
