Nalgonda,Formerly known as Neelagiri, the district of Nalgonda is situated in the Southern part of the Telangana Region covering an area of 14,217 Sq. Kms. A district in Andhra Pradesh, Nalgonda's global location is between 16-25' and 17-50' of the Northern Latitude and 78-40' and 80-05' of Eastern longitude. The District is bordered by Medak and Warangal districts in the North, Guntur and Mahabubnagar districts in the South, Khammam and Krishna districts in the East while the districts of Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy lie in the West. The total population of Nalgonda is 34.5 lakhs and The density of population is 227 per Sq. Km (2001 census).
