Imphal West lies between 24.30° N and 25.00° N latitudes and between 93.45° E and 94.15° E longitudes and is bounded by Senapati district on the north, by Imphal East and Thoubal districts on the east, by Thoubal and Bishnupur districts on the south , and by Senapati and Bishnupur districts on the west. As per 2001 census Imphal West has a population of 4,39,532. Imphal City is the capital of the state of Manipur.
