Udhampur District in southeast Jammu & Kashmir was christened after Raja Udham Singh. The geographic position of Udhampur is given by 32 °34 'to 39 °30 'North Latitude and 74 °16 'to 75 °38' East Longitude and it covers an area of 4,550 sq. km. Udhampur District is bounded in the West by Rajouri District, in the North by Anantnag District, in and by Doda and Kathua District in the Northeast and Southwest while Jammu flanks it in the Southwest.
