Gopalganj

Located in the north of Bihar, Gopalgunj is a part of the Saran division. With a total coverage of 2033 sq. kms, the area has a population of 54,418 (2001 census). While 53% constitutes the male population, 47% of the population comprises of females. And 15% of the total population is less than 6 years of age. And 15% of the total population is less than 6 years of age. Sugar Factories and Vegetable Oil Mills are the sources of revenue generation. However, the district, known as the land of sugarcanes, is primarily an agricultural area.

Infrastructure Gopalgunj is interlinked with NH28 - the national highway between Delhi and Kolkata. With Thawe as a prime junction, it's well connected to all the major cities. It also boasts of swanky residential areas, shopping malls, and roads with infrastructural facilities in transportation.

Economy Gopalgunj mainly grows paddy, wheat, and maize. The area has some remarkable advances in horticulture and a huge agri and dairy products center. With secondary and tertiary industries related to cold storages the district houses 4 sugar mills.

Tourist Attractions Thawe Temple of the holy Goddess Durga is a must see in Gopalgunj. As a part of the 'Shaktipith' of Ma Durga, this place attracts huge number of devotees.

Educational Institutes With Jayaprakash Narayan University at Chapra, Gopalgunj has a total of 290 primary schools, 100 secondary schools, 8 higher secondary schools, 5 colleges and 1 industrial training institute.
