Kaimur, located on 24.54 degree north latitude and 83.40 degree east latitude, was established in 1991. Divided into 2 sub-divisions viz., Bhabua and Mohania, it mainly comprises of Plain and Plateau regions. Spanning over a total of 3362 sq kms it has a total crop area of 291417. Known as the land of Kharwars and Ovaons, today it is inhabited by the Bhars, Cheros and Savars.
A densely populated region Kaimur accommodates 6, 77,623 males and 6, 11,451 females. There are 907 females for every 1000 males. With a population density of 383.3 per km, the district has 2, 69,812 people under the 0-6 age limit.
Kaimur has a total of 763 Primary Schools, 56 High Schools and 12 Degree Colleges. Apart from the NH 2 that connects it with Patna via Arah, Kaimur has its nearest railway junction at Bhabua and 189 kms and 211 kms away from Gaya International Airport and JayaPrakash Narayan International Airport, respectively.
