Aizwal



The district of Aizawl enjoys the privilege of having Aizawl City as the capital of the state of Mizoram. It is wedged between the Tlawng River valley and the Tuirial River valley. As per the Census of 2001, Aizawl is home to a population of 229,714.

Aizawl is known for its produce of aluminum utensils, handloomed textiles, and furniture which provides employment for many along with fisheries, horticulture and sericulture.

Aizwal


Aizwal is the capital of Mizoram that is located in the southern part of the state. Aizwal, the largest city of Mizoram, is the religious and cultural center of Mizoram that attracts tourists from across the world.

* Mizoram State Museum - Mizoram State Museum is situated at McDonald's hill and contains about 2500 items. The artifacts housed in the museum include musical instruments, photographs, arms and weapons, textiles, natural history specimens, stone sculptures, etc.

* Luangmual Handicrafts Centre - Luangmual Handicrafts Centre is one of the important locations in Aizwal. The 'Khumbeu' is a typical hat made at Luangmual Handicrafts Centre, which is made with the help of Hnahthial leaves.

* Paikhai - Paikhai is one of the major picnic spots in Aizwal. Paikhai is located about 16 kilometers from the center of the city. The tourists can reach the site by taxis, buses and car.

* Berawtlang Tourist Complex - Berawtlang Tourist Complex is situated about 7 kilometers from the center of the city. Berawtlang Tourist Complex offers a number of facilities, including Tourist cottages and restaurants.

* Tamdil - Tamdil is a natural lake in Aizwal that is bounded by dense forests. The lake is the largest lake of Mizoram that offers a provision for boating. Tamdil is also cultivated as a fish farm.

The destinations situated in and around Aizwal play a significant role in the tourism of Aizwal. It is noteworthy that Aizwal is well connected with the others parts of India. NH-54 connects the city with the other states of India through Silchar.
