Kawardha
Kawardha district is presently known as Kabirdham district. The district was formed on 6th July of 1998. The district derived its name after Kabir Sahib, who visited this region. The geographical location of Kawardha is 80.48' east to 81.48' east longitude and from 21.32' north to 22.28' north latitude. Durg and Bilaspur lie on the eastern side of Kawardha. In the north lies Dindori and in the south lies Rajnandgaon. On the western side of Kawardha, Balaghat is situated.

Maikal mountains surround Kawardha district in the north and west. The highest peak of the mountain range in this region is Kesmarda. The plain land covers the southern and central portion of the district. Many rivers flowing through Kawardha emerge from the Maikal mountain range. Rivers like Phok, Halon, Sakri, Phen and Jamunia flow through certain parts of this district.

The total area of Kawardha is 280873 sq km. The soil of this part of Chhattisgarh is rich in nitrogen and Potash. The district experiences a temperate climatic condition. In the summer months, the temperature rises to a maximum of 42 degree Celsius. During winter the temperature falls to a minimum of 15 degree Celsius. Rainfall in this district is less compared to the other districts of Chhattisgarh. The average amount of rainfall in Kawardha is 990 mm. The economy of Kawardha is mainly agro based. Dual cropping system is prevalent in this district. Some area of Kawardha is covered by forests.
