Lying in the north eastern part of Madhya Pradesh, the Satna district is located between 23º58' to 25º12' north latitude and 80º21' to 81º23' east longitude.
The district has its headquarter in the Satna town and have a total area of 7502 square kilometers with a population of 1,868,648.
The economy of the district depends heavily on industries related to cement manufacturing, hand-loom, flour and oilseed milling and agricultural products.
Satna is blessed with several religious and archaeological sites to create tourists' interest. Some of the must visit destinations are Chitrakoot, Maihar and Birsinghapur.
