The Almora town is located at a distance of 63 kilometer from Nainital and 380 kilometer from Delhi. It is the headquarter of Almora district. Temple of Nanda Devi: Old Almora is still preserved in the temple of Nanda Devi. She is the patron goddess of the Chand rajas. It stands in the antechamber of a Shiva temple and the above bazaars and adjoins the Mall.
Khazanchi Mohalla: The best example of the old architectural style is the Khazanchi Mohalla. It once belonged to the state treasures.
Collectorate: The Collectorate is the highest point of the Almora bazaars above the Mall. This is the old Almora fort, from where one can get a wonderful view of Almora and the surrounding mountains.

* By Rail: The nearest railhead is at Kathgodam, 133 kilometer via Ranikhet and 90 kilometer via Khairua from Almora.
* By road: Almora is 335 kilometer away from Delhi and 196 kilometer away from Bareilly on a direct bus route.
